Michelle Castro l Vice President, Trusts & Estates

Michelle Castro is the Vice President of Trusts & Estates and is based in Heritage Auctions’ Dallas headquarters. She works with estate planning attorneys, executors, trust officers, wealth managers, certified public accountants, and other professional advisors throughout the United States. Michelle assists fiduciaries and families in a variety of areas including valuations for multi-category estates, tailored proposals for auctions, formal appraisals, and private treaty sales.   

Michelle has over 25 years of experience working in fine art galleries and auction houses. She spent her early career working at a private fine art gallery in New Orleans before launching a successful career as the Director of Fine Art at New Orleans Auction Galleries, where she curated and directed the sales of prominent Southern estates.  In 2013, Michelle joined Heritage Auctions and was tasked with building and expanding the Trusts & Estates Department in Texas and the Southern Region. At Heritage, Michelle has managed numerous important estates and private collections, such as Robert J. Dodds III, Brooks Robinson, Dorace M. Fichtenbaum, Colletta Ray McMillian, Mary Anne Sammons Cree, and Kenneth S. “Bud” Adams Jr., among others. She has also sold property on behalf of institutions such as the Dallas Museum of Art, Communities Foundation of Texas, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Norton Children’s Hospital, and Franklin & Marshall College.

Michelle’s expertise is Modern & Contemporary Art, and she is an accredited member of the International Society of Appraisers.  Michelle gives frequent presentations on estate planning with tangible personal property, charitable giving with collectibles, and qualified appraisals. She is a board member of the Dallas Estate Planning Council and Vice President of the Dallas Council of Charitable Gift Planners. She is a member of the Communities Foundation of Texas Advisory Council, the Estate Planning Council of Central Texas, and the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners.

 

Taylor Strander l Trusts & Estates Representative, Dallas

 

Taylor Strander serves as Trusts & Estates representative in Heritage Auctions’ Dallas headquarters. She works with families, advisors, and fiduciaries throughout the Southern region to provide estate, appraisal, and consignment services. Her keen eye for design and marketing has been instrumental in elevating the Trusts & Estates division’s overall brand awareness through innovative client events, email campaigns, and marketing initiatives.

 

Born and raised in Dallas, Taylor received her Bachelor’s degree in Art History and Business Administration from Baylor University. While attending Baylor, she remained connected to the Dallas arts community through internships at the Dallas Museum of Art and the Dallas Art Fair. Before joining Heritage, she worked at a boutique art advisory firm where she oversaw the installation of large-scale corporate art collections such as Google, Seimens, and other Fortune-500 companies. Taylor is a committee member of the Dallas Estate Planning Council’s Emerging Professionals chapter and is the Editor of Heritage Auctions Journal for Trusts & Estates Advisors.
